Emergency Resource Management Planning Project files, 1960-1968.

Correspondence, reports, and minutes of a project assigned to draft emergency resource management plans. The plans were drafted by state government officials and representatives of private industry and were to be used in the event of a nuclear attack. The plans provide for stabilization of the economy and management of essential resources such as food, water, gas, electric power, telecommunications, solid fuels, manpower, and health resources.

Chapter 628, Laws of 1959, placed the former Office of Civil Defense (WIHV86-A1719) within the Executive Office as the Bureau of Civil Defense. Chapter 75, Laws of 1967, which reorganized the executive branch of state government in Wisconsin, transferred the Bureau of Civil Defense (see WIHV86-A1718) from the Executive Office to the new Department of Local Affairs and Development (see WIHV86-A1748) where it became the Division of Emergency Government.
